Explorers and Adventurers Teachers,
We were slow to realize we finished our last lesson last Sunday! Here is a lesson for this Sunday. Thanks for your patience with us!
Many of the kids have started school for the first time. Give a time at the beginning of class for each child to share about starting school. Ask them their teacher?s name, their favorite thing to do, etc. You could pass something around and have each of them talk only when they are holding the object. This would encourage them to take turns.
Lesson:
Jesus Loves the Little ChildrenMark 10:13-16; Matt. 19:13-15; Luke 18:15-17
We sang this song in church recently so this is our chance to teach the kids what it means.
The teacher could bring a mirror. Above it, the teacher could hang a sign that says, "Jesus Loves." During the lesson the teacher could pass the mirror around so each child can look in it and say out loud, "Jesus Loves Sean."
Craft:For a craft the kids could have a sheet of paper with a big box on the bottom. At the top of the sheet, above the box, it could say, "Jesus Loves (or draw a heart)." Each of the children could then draw a picture of themselves in the box. The final product would read "Jesus Loves Riley."Another version of this would be to have the kids make a little paper doll of themselves. They could draw the characteristics that make them unique. On the back, they could write how they know God loves them.
"
All the Children of the World. Red, Brown, Yellow, Black and White."Discuss as a class that there are many different cultures and children living in many places all over the world. The teacher could bring pictures of children of many nationalities, from many nations (pull pics from magazines or print from Internet). Allow the children to talk about where they might be from and what their lives might be like.
The teacher could even hang a world map or bring a globe and let the kids stick the pictures to their home nations. Matthew 19:14 or Luke 18:16 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
